Our Story

During a date night in 2012...

my boyfriend Abbott Smith and I were discussing the future and what it held for a couple of ski bums like us.

At that time, chasing powder days and getting on skis as much as possible was the priority. I studied Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Colorado Boulder and I remembered one of my chemistry professors saying, “you can continue with your education by obtaining a PhD, you can work in research or a pharmaceutical lab, OR you can figure out how to make great alcohol and good money.” While laughing about that statement, little did we know, making great alcohol and Telluride Distilling Company would become a reality for us in 2013.

With Abbott’s strong engineering background, we made the perfect pair to start this craft distillery adventure.

We got married...

in 2015 and welcomed our daughter, Raegan in January of 2022.

Tragically, Abbott was killed in an accident on May 21, 2022.

Deeply heartbroken, I did my best to pick up the pieces and continue to move the distillery forward. Over the years since Abbott’s passing, we’ve had many dedicated employees who have helped greatly, and through their devotion, they have enabled our dream to live on.

To all...

our family, friends, employees (past and present), buyers, Classic Beverage Company and the Telluride Community, we could not do this without you. I am eternally grateful for all your love and support.
